ALTOONA CURVE
Altoona returns to PNG Field tonight as they welcome the Richmond Flying Squirrels for a six-game set. Kyle Nicolas (0-1, 3.65 ERA) will start for the Curve, while Richmond will send out Gray Fenter (0-1, 2.61 ERA).
First pitch is 6 p.m.
AROUND THE FARM
The accolades continue to pile up for one Pirates minor leaguer.
Yesterday, it was announced that Jacob Gonzalez, first baseman for the Pirates High-A team Greensboro and son of MLB legend Luis Gonzalez, earned South Atlantic League Player of the Week honors. Gonzalez, 23, was promoted last week from Low-A Bradenton and is hitting .435 in the minors this season with seven home runs and 23 RBI.
This is his fifth award this season, winning Player of the Week three times and earning Player of the Month honors once.
