The Somerset Patriots gave a lesson in late-inning rallies as they came from behind to beat the Altoona Curve on Education Day this afternoon, 4-2, at PNG Field.
Brendt Citta broke open the scoring in the bottom of the second with an RBI triple. Tucupita Marcano drove Citta in a few hitters later with a sacrifice fly to left field.
Somerset knotted up the scoring in the eighth after outfielder Elijah Dunham drove in a run on a sacrifice fly. First baseman Chad Bell singled in the top of the ninth that drove in the go-ahead run and an insurance run.
Curve starter Kyle Nicolas had another formidable outing, allowing just one hit and one earned run while tallying four strikeouts over five innings. Noe Toribio threw three shutout innings of relief.
Game three of the series is tomorrow night at PNG Field with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m.
