A plan for two long-awaited restaurants in White Township was reapproved at the township’s Planning Commission meeting Tuesday night.
Plans for a proposed Panera and Applebee’s restaurant at the former Elkin lot at 2879 Oakland Avenue were given conditional approval pending a review of the stormwater plans and verification of sewer plans. The plans approved last night would include 129 parking spaces, and the restaurants would seat a combined 199 patrons. The plans were first approved back in 2015, but since then, the project came to a complete stop. Code Enforcement Officer Matt Genchur, who lead the meeting for the Commission, talked about why he felt the project stalled.
Genchur said that while there is no concrete construction schedule in place yet, an aggressive construction schedule is anticipated once things get underway.
