Once again, gas prices are on the rise in Indiana County, and across Pennsylvania and the nation.
Yesterday, Gasbuddy.com reported that prices across Indiana County were at $4.39 a gallon. This morning, gas prices jumped ten cents a gallon across Indiana, Homer City, Clymer and Blairsville to the $4.49 a gallon level.
The county-wide average according to Triple-A is now $4.45 a gallon, a five cent-increase from yesterday. Comparing Indiana County to the counties surrounding it, Westmoreland has the lowest average at $4.43 a gallon, Armstrong has a $4.44 a gallon average. Jefferson County tied Indiana with a $4.45 a gallon average. Clearfield’s average is $4.47 a gallon, and Cambria has the highest average in the region at $4.49 a gallon.
Pennsylvania’s average jumped four cents yesterday to $4.54 a gallon. The national average went up five cents over the last 24 hours to $4.37 a gallon this morning. The jump in gas prices is once again due to the rising cost of crude oil, which has been over $100 a barrel over the last week, and could reach $110 a barrel.
