The IUP baseball team swept Clarion in a doubleheader Sunday, 1-0 and 7-2, but it was not enough to get into the PSAC playoffs.
The Hawks finished the season at 27-22, and 16-12 in the PSAC. IUP finished in a three-way tie for the final two playoff spots but lost out on tiebreakers to Mercyhurst and Cal U.
Freshman Jimmy Tooley spun a one-hitter in Sunday’s first game, losing his no-hitter on a ground-ball single with two outs in the 7th inning. He struck out the final batter to end the game.
