The Pirates managed to lose two out of three over the weekend to the Cincinnati Reds, who came into the series with only three wins all season long.

General Manager Ben Cherington said on his show yesterday on WCCS that the hamstring injury suffered by catcher Roberto Perez on Saturday was “on the more severe side of things”, and that his stay on the injured list may be significant.
Tonight, the Pirates open a three-game series with the Dodgers, who come to PNC Park with the best record in baseball. Lefthander Jose Qunitana (0-1, 3.38 ERA) pitches for the Bucs against Dodgers righty Julio Urias (2-1, 1.88 ERA). It’s a 6:10 airtime on WCCS.
ALTOONA CURVE
Matt Frazier drove in a run with a 4th-inning single and Brendt Citta followed with a two-run double as Altoona beat Erie, 2-1. Curve right-hander Mike Burrows gave up just one hit over four shutout innings with six strikeouts . He lowered his ERA to 1.35 for the season.
The Curve are off today and open a six-game set at home against the Somerset Yankees tomorrow night.
