Troopers are seeking help from the public with a recent vehicle theft and subsequent hit-and-run crash in Nanty Glo Borough, Cambria County.
On May 6, 2022 at 6:32 a.m., a member of the Troop A, Ebensburg Patrol Unit was dispatched to investigate a hit-and-run crash at 1276 Caroline Street, Nanty Glo Borough. As the trooper was en route to scene, the suspect vehicle, a dark gray-in-color Chrysler 300 sedan, was located at 1310 Shoemaker Street. The vehicle was found to be unoccupied with severe impact damage and its front windows rolled down.
Upon investigation, troopers determined that the Chrysler had been stolen overnight from 1098 Davis Street, Nanty Glo Borough. After being stolen, the vehicle struck two parked cars along Caroline Street and was then abandoned at 1310 Shoemaker Street.
Video surveillance footage from the nearby Shop ’N Save grocery store at 1309 Shoemaker Street shows three young males, possibly juveniles, exiting the Chrysler 300 and walking toward Creek Street. Troopers believe the suspects may have fled the area in a gold-in-color sedan.
Troopers believe the same suspects were also involved in several thefts or attempted thefts from unattended vehicles in the Nanty Glo Borough area during the overnight hours of May 5-6.
Residents and business owners with video surveillance footage and/or information leading to the identification of the suspects are encouraged to contact Troop A, Ebensburg at 814-471-6500.
