During today’s media availability, Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan announced that goalie Casey DeSmith and forward Rickard Rakell are both day-to-day after both suffered injuries in last night’s playoff game against the New York Rangers.
DeSmith exited the game in the second overtime period with reported cramps in his legs, while Rakell left the game in the first period after his head was slammed off the glass on a check by Rangers’ Ryan Lindgren.
Sullivan also said that forward Jason Zucker skated with the team earlier this morning and is day-to-day, and that goalie Tristan Jarry did not skate today, but is “continuing his rehab on the ice.”
With DeSmith’s status uncertain, the NHL’s media site reports that reserve goaltender Alex D’Orio will join the Penguins and back up Louis Domingue.
Tomorrow’s game will air on U92.5 FM and the U92 Sports Channel beginning at 6 o’clock with pregame coverage. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
