A social movement meant to reduce mowing for one month was discussed at length by Indiana Borough Council Tuesday night.
The issue was brought up by council member Sara Steelman, who said that the “No Mow May” movement focuses on reducing lawn mowing habits for the month of May for environmental reasons.
This was met with opposition from fellow councilman Luke DeBuyser, who said that not only could a lot of businesses be hurt if people didn’t mow their lawn for a month, but there are several other reasons why “No Mow May” could hurt, including a negative impact on those trying to sell a home.
After a discussion on possibly having code enforcement officers go easy on lawn mowing, the idea was sent to the Public Works committee for further discussion.
In other business, the borough approved a revised 2022 outdoor dining resolution making some of the rules that were brought into play during the Covid-19 pandemic permanent. The board also received a clean audit report for the 2021 year.
