BASEBALL
The River Valley Panthers took two from Homer-Center last night, completing a previously-suspended game with an 11-10 win in eight innings and then taking the regularly scheduled game, 14-5. Down 2-1 after one inning of the regularly-scheduled game, River Valley scored two in the 2nd, then seven in the 3rd to take control. The Panthers’ Andrew Baker had four hits, including a double and a triple. Cam Reaugh, Rocco Bartolini, Matt Izzo, Cole Stuchal and relief pitcher Niko Vadala all had two hits for River Valley. Owen Saiani was 2-for-4 for Homer Center.
Unbeaten Marion Center crushed Penns Manor, 16-1. Parker Black was 2-for-2 with a second inning home run for the Stingers, and pitcher Cody Willard got the win. Carter Smith was 2-for-2 for the Comets.
West Shamokin edged Purchase Line, 8-6.
Northern Cambria knocked off Cambria Heights, 12-7.
United dropped an non-conference game to Bishop Giulfoyle, 15-13.
SOFTBALL
Longtime Marion Center coach Ed Peterson picked up his 200th career win in a 15-0 victory over Penns Manor. The Stingers’ Lexi Roush had three hits, including two doubles and a homer, as she drove in 4. She also got the win.
River Valley bombed Homer-Center, 16-0, as Madison Stutzman went 4-for-5 and Tori Foust was 2-for-3 with a 3-run home run. Brin Gardner, Belle Pynos, Hannah Foust, and Hannah Artley all had multiple hits for River Valley. Hannah Foust struck out 11 while giving up just one hit.
West Shamokin blasted Purchase Line, 17-0.
Cambria Heights remained undefeated with a 6-1 win over Northern Cambria.
United bombed Bishop Guilfoyle, 20-1.
Franklin Regional topped Indiana, 7-2.
LACROSSE
The Indiana girls lacrosse team nipped Franklin Regional, 6-5, yesterday to raise their record to 10-1. Kennedi Kunkle scored the game-winning goal. Gianna Brody had a goal and an assist, along with six ground balls and five draw controls. Indiana’s other scorers were Kayla Leon, Tess Kuzneski, Caroline Albert, and Kyla Weaver. Anna Buterbaugh had seven saves in goal.
The Indiana JV team tied Franklin Regional 7-7.
