Three million dollars in Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grants will be coming to Indiana County for two projects, while another $1 million will go towards the Jimmy Stewart Airport.
In a joint news release from Senator Joe Pittman and Representative Jim Struzzi, $2.5 million will go towards a collaborative effort between the Indiana County Development Corporation, the county commissioners and several municipalities to deliver all equipment and construction phases and related improvements for the Indiana County Multi-Municipal Economic Development projects. This includes projects at the Windy Ridge Business and Technology Park in White Township, the Corporate Campus Business Park in Burrell Township and the Route 119 Business Park in Center Township. An additional $500,000 will go to the Route 119 Business Park for additional improvements. The ICDC reports that development trends indicate that businesses are looking to establish themselves in new locations, especially in areas that can provide larger footprints, so having ready-to-go sites would give the county an advantage in attracting businesses.
On top of that, another $1 million will go towards the Jimmy Stewart Airport, and that money will be used to build a corporate hangar and related site improvements to house multiple aircraft.
Both Struzzi and Pittman were happy with the announcement of the grant money. Pittman said that the funding “will open new opportunities throughout Indiana County to bring economic and community development to the region.”
