Indiana trimmed Penn Hills, 10-9 yesterday as Ashlyn Winslow, Haley Hamilton, and Ella Myers all hit home runs. Maggie Cunningham was 3-for-4 and Chloe McHugh and Liz Flanders were each 2-for-4 with a single and a double.

TRACK & FIELD

It’s a big day for track & field today at United High School, which will host the Appalachian Meet, featuring girls and boys teams from the Heritage Conference and the WestPAC. The action gets underway at 2:15 this afternoon.

The Indiana Junior High track & field teams both defeated Latrobe yesterday, the girls winning, 103-20, and the boys by a score of 77-37.

The Indiana Junior High Track and Field teams traveled to Greater Latrobe on Thursday. The Indiana girls defeated Latrobe 103-20. Sophia Scardina won the 100, 200 and teamed up with Emily Ferraro, Addison Porter, and Ali Genchur to win the 4×100. Scardina also anchored the winning 4×400 team along with Addy Fry, Ferraro and Jocelyn Higbee. Fry and Higbee teamed up with Kaylee Onder and Laken Kugler to win the 4×800 as well.

Other individual event winners included Fry in the 400 meter dash, Onder in the 1600 meter run, Addy Hutton in the 110 meter hurdles, Julia Weber in the pole vault, Addison Porter in the triple jump, Hannah Ianarelli in the high jump, Sara Fisher in the discus and Jayla Peterson in the shot put.

The Indiana boys also defeated Latrobe 77-37. Levi Porter led the boys with individual victories in the 200 meters, the high jump, the long jump and the triple jump. Kaiden Branan won both the 1600 meters and the 800 meters while also running on the winning 4×800 meter relay with Mason Musser, Danny Trevarrow, and Grayson Brunetto. Branan also ran on the winning 4×400 relay with Josh Reed, Dominic Fanella, and Jackson Albert. Jack Lehman led the team in the field winning both the shot put and the discus. Mathew Sebring also won the pole vault.

Both teams are now 2-0. They will host Penn Trafford at home on Monday.
