Governor Tom Wolf has announced that $47.8 million will be invested in 56 multi-modal projects across the state, including one project in Green Township.
The projects have a goal of improve not just state roads, but it will also benefit local roads and highways, which is part of PennDOT’s commitment to improving locally-owned infrastructure. The projects were evaluated by PennDOT and selected the projects based on safety benefits, regional economic conditions, technical and financial feasibility, job creation, energy efficiency, and operational sustainability.
Indiana County will receive $145,729 to reconstruct and rehabilitate several roads in the villages of Commodore and Starford, including Lighthouse Road, Railroad, City, Teak, Short, Teddy, Parker and Rhododendron Streets in Starford, and Olive and Redbud Streets in Commodore.
Senator Joe Pittman called the projects in both communities “very important and long overdue” and said that while this is just the first step towards improving road conditions in the area, he is confident that more work will come up in the future.
