Pirates pitchers gave up only three hits last night, but two of them left the ballpark in a loss to the Milwaukee Brewers.

Pirates reliever Sam Howard started for Indianapolis last night in a rehab assignment and gave up a run in one-and-two-thirds innings. Howard is coming back from a back injury. Outfielder Anthony Alford also made a rehab start in the Indians’ 4-2 loss to Columbus. Alford was o-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base. He is returning from a hand injury.
The series concludes this afternoon with Mitch Keller pitching for the Pirates against the Brewers’ Brandon Woodruff. The airtime is 1:15 on WCCS.

The Altoona Curve’s game against New Hampshire was snowed out. They will play a doubleheader starting at 4:30 tomorrow afternoon. The series opens tonight at PNG Field with the Curve sending Travis McGregor to the mound for his second start.
