Governor Tom Wolf announced on Monday that the current acting health department secretary is stepping down from office.
Acting Health Secretary Keara Klinepeter will resign her position effective this Friday. Before she took on the role of Acting Health Secretary, she was the Executive Deputy Secretary under former Acting Secretary Allison Beam. She was also a special advisor to the Secretary of Health, working extensively on the Covid-19 pandemic. Klinepeter is expecting her first child in June.
In a statement, Wolf called Klinepeter “an asset to the Department of Health and the Wolf Administration throughout the Covid-19 Pandemic, providing necessary leadership and guidance to prepare for the endemic phase of the pandemic.”
When Klinepeter steps down, current Physician General Dr. Denise Johnson will step up and take over the Heath Secretary’s duties.
