Down in the minor leagues, superb pitching by Altoona’s Mike Burrows and Omar Cruz lead the Curve to a 6-1 win over the Richmond Flying Squirrels on Friday night.
Burrows allowed two hits and struck out six in the first four innings of work. Cruz followed with four dominant innings of relief work, striking out seven and allowing one hit, picking up the win in the process. Altoona scored in the top of the 4th inning on a single from Tucupita Marcano that allowed Connor Scott to score, while Marcano advanced to third on a fielding error. Marcano would score on an Aaron Shackelford RBI double. Liover Peguero hit a three-run homer in the top of the 6th and Peguero would later score in the 8th inning as Jack Suwinski hit an RBI single of his own.
The six-game series continues tonight in Richmond with Luis Ortiz to start for the Curve against Bryan Brickhouse
