The traditional Good Friday Breakfast was held today at the YMCA of Indiana County, and featured a guest speaker who brought a message of forgiveness.
The annual breakfast starts at 7:00 this morning and will feature Renee Napier Lord, the president of the Meagan Napier foundation. Renee lost her daughter, Meagan, in a drunk driving crash in 2002. While the driver, Eric Smallridge, was initially sentenced to 22 years in prison, Renee came to forgive him, and even lead a campaign to have his sentence reduced. In 2004, Lord started to give DUI presentations at many different venues. In April of 2010, Smallridge was given permission to accompany her on these speaking engagements.
Lord said that during her grieving, she was able to turn to her faith to not only forgive, but to heal as well.
This year marks the 65th annual Good Friday breakfast.
