ESPN reports that the Pittsburgh Penguins will head to the hallowed halls of Fenway Park to take on the Boston Bruins in the 2023 edition of the Winter Classic.
The Winter Classic an outdoor game played between two NHL teams around New Year’s Day played in either a football or baseball stadium. The Pens were part of the first Winter Classic in Buffalo New York against the Sabres in 2008, which they won. The Pens also hosted a Winter Classic game in 2011, which was a loss to the Washington Capitals. The Pens record in outdoor hockey games (Winter Classic and Stadium Series games) is 2-3.
The 2023 Winter Classic will be played January 2nd, 2023.
