On Monday night, the Indiana School Board approved some motions in an effort to combat a recent wave of racist and bullying behaviors in the school community.
The board approved a resolution in support of a positive school climate and approved creating a subcommittee that would be focused on the school climate. District superintendent Michael Vuckovich also denounced recent events in the school that included bullying and hate-filled language. This came after a lengthy discussion that Vuckovich had with Ira Redd, who brought these concerns to the district. She said that the actions taken by the board Monday night represent an important first step.
Superintendent Michael Vuckovich said that these motions are also showing a willingness to work together with the public to help tackle the issue head-on.
In other business, the board approved the Indiana County Technology Center budget of $7,175,403. The district’s share of the budget will be based on the number of Indiana School District students who attend the ICTC.
