The suspect in a Greensburg carjacking was taken into custody by state police in Indiana yesterday, and is in the Westmoreland County Prison today. The car he is accused of stealing was also recovered.
38-year-old Darryl Lynn Higgins of Indiana is charged with three felony offenses, including robbery of a motor vehicle, theft, and receiving stolen property, along with four misdemeanors and five summary offenses.
Greensburg City Police say Higgins jumped into a woman’s 2016 Subaru Outback as she was pumping gas at a Sunoco/7 Eleven store Wednesday morning. He made his way to the Lynch Field recreational complex, at one point driving on a walking trail, and fled down Route 119 headed toward Indiana County. Police do not say specifically where he was found, but it was in the Indiana area.
Higgins was arraigned yesterday afternoon before Westmoreland County District Judge Chris Flanigan and ordered held on $25,000 bond. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled on April 21st.
