Three fire departments were called out for a reported structure fire in Homer City early this morning.
The first alarm went out at 4:44 this morning as an automatic fire alarm activation at the Verizon building at 39 Miller Avenue. Homer City fire crews were called out initially. That call turned into a structure fire, and Coral-Graceton and Indiana fire crews were dispatched at 5:02 AM to assist on the scene. The call changed after heavy smoke was discovered in the basement of the building.
The fire started in the basement and Homer City Fire Chief Terry Gardner determined the fire was electrical in nature. No injuries were reported.
