PennDOT crews are back at work today in the Oakland Avenue construction zone, with some congestion expected today in the area of the Plaza Road intersection.
Crews started concrete patch work early this morning at the entrance to Walmart and that work will continue today through 8:00 PM. That means some traffic delays are expected throughout the day in that area, and drivers are asked to leave themselves some extra time or use an alternate route today. After today’s work, crews from Gulisek Construction LLC out of Mount Pleasant will continue to work along the Oakland Avenue Corridor as part of the Route 286/U.S 422 widening and resurfacing project. That project includes the installation of sidewalks along Oakland Avenue, replacing the McCarthy Run Creek bridge, and the widening and resurfacing of the Route 286/U.S. 422 interchange.
The entire project is expected to wrap up in December of 2023, and will cost $19.83 million.
