BASEBALL
Northern Cambria overcame a 5-0 deficit and outslugged Homer-Center, 12-7, yesterday. After the Wildcats scored single runs in the first and second innings and three more in the third, the Colts rallied from behind with a four-run fourth inning, followed by five more runs in the fifth.
Northern Cambria banged out 12 hits. Josh Yachtis was 3-for-4 and Ethan Krawcion, and Zack Taylor each had two hits. Homer-Center had 11 hits, included multi-hit games by Riley Clevenger and Ethan Roser, who were each 3-for-4. Owen Saiani, who took the loss for the Wildcats, had two hits.
In another slugfest, West Shamokin beat Cambria Heights, 11-8. Bo Swartz, Cody Baker, and Grant Johnston each had two hits and Swartz hit a homer and drove in three runs.
SOFTBALL
United blasted Penns Manor, 20-10. Abby McConville was 5-for-5 with two doubles and 5 RBIs. Coral Grassmyer had three hits, including a home run. Cleo Long has three hits. Sarah Plowman and Tatumn Coyle each had two hits, and Jaelynn Lichtenfels had two hits, including a homer.
Northern Cambria beat Homer-Center 8-6. The Wildcats’ Mel George and Alaina Fabin each had two hits, with George hitting a double and Fabin a triple. Cambria Heights bombed West Shamokin, 13-4.
