Mitch Keller continued his dominant spring, throwing four scoreless innings against the Red Sox in a Bucco win in Bradenton.
Joe Block has the story.
Rookie sensation Oneil Cruz was optioned to Indianapolis yesterday. He’s 5-for-15 this preseason with two home runs, playing shortstop and then left field. Manager Derek Shelton emphasized Cruz’s lack of development time in the minors. Because of injuries, he was limited to only 62 games at Altoona and six at Indianapolis last year. The 6-foot-7 Cruz also is learning to play the outfield in addition to playing shortstop, where the Pirates are loaded with prospects.
