The Pirates sent outfielders Canaan Smith-Njigba and Jared Oliva to Indianapolis and optioned first baseman Mason Martin and Cal Mitchell to their minor league camp.

The St. Louis are reportedly finalizing a one-year contract with former star first baseman Albert Pujols. A noted Pirates nemesis, the 42-year-old is entering his 23rd major league season after spending his first 11 years in St. Louis. He’s played the last 11 years in Los Angeles with the Angels and Dodgers. Pujols was voted Rookie of the Year, made nine All-Star Games, won two Gold Gloves, three MVPs, and two World Series championships with the Cardinals.
