Coming off a disappointing effort Friday night in New York, the Penguins crushed the Detroit Red Wings last night.
Paul Steigerwald has the story.
Coach Mike Sullivan expected his team to bounce back from Friday’s loss to the Rangers.
Sullivan says the team can take a lot from the game.
Sullivan says it’s been a rough emotional ride for Malkin lately, with the Russian war on Ukraine weighing heavily on him.
Forward Bryan Rust says a game like last night’s was more like it.
Rust says the Penguins can learn from both the Friday loss at New York and last night’s win over Detroit.
Forward Danton Heinen says Malkin is an amazing hockey player.
Heinen says the Penguins are looking forward to a rematch tomorrow night against the Rangers, who beat them 5-1 on Friday.
The eleven goals were one shy of the franchise record. The Penguins scored 12 goals in 1975 and again in 1991. The last time an NHL team scored 11 goals in a game was in 2003, when the Capitals scored 12 against Florida.
