State Representative Jim Struzzi says his House Bill 637 will come up for a vote this week before the full House.
The bill requires General Assembly approval of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative before it could be implemented, and with amendments added last month, it also calls for significant state investment in alternative carbon reduction measures, such as the development of carbon dioxide and methane reduction technologies for electric generation and manufacturing; sewer and water infrastructure and mitigation projects, some of which target the reduction of carbon dioxide; and more than $62 million to help workers and communities impacted by power plant closures.
The bill is on Wednesday’s voting calendar.
