After tying their last two games, the Pirates were able to put together a win against the Minnesota Twins on Friday 2-1.
Hunter Owen worked some walk-off magic for the Bucs, hitting the two-out homer in the 9th to win it. Brian Reynolds also homered in the game to bring the game to a 1-all tie. Pirates minor leaguer Oneil Cruz was called up from triple-A Indianapolis and was told to head to Florida to play yesterday, and the Pirates put him in left field, and had to field a difficult hit that got blown around by the windy conditions.
After the game, Pirates manager Derek Shelton said he was impressed with Cruz, and said that the error would have been tough even for an experienced left fielder.
The Pirates will take on the Baltimore Orioles tonight, and our next Pirates game on the air is tomorrow against Tampa. Pre-game starts at 1:00 on WCCS.
