The Steelers formally announced their agreement with cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon on Friday.
This came eight days after national sports news outlets broke the news. Witherspoon reportedly signed for $8 million over the next two seasons. He will join Levi Wallace and Cam Sutton as the top three cornerbacks for the black and gold.
Witherspoon came to the Steelers late last year in a trade during training camp, and while it took him a while to get going with the Steelers, he gradually became one of the team’s top corners. He spent the first four seasons of his career with the San Fransisco 49ers.
Meanwhile veteran corner Joe Haden remains unsigned.
