Fire crews were busy with two vehicle accidents in a 24-hour period on Thursday into this morning.
The first accident was reported at 3:23 PM on Route 119 South near Homer City. Homer City firefighters, state police and Citizens’ Ambulance were called out at that time. Homer City Fire Chief Terry Gardners said the two vehicles crashed in a T-bone style collision near the Sheetz on Route 119 and Lucerne Road near Homer City. No injuries were reported.
The second crash happened at 2:44 this morning on Route 217 North in Blacklick Township. Blairsville and Black Lick fire departments were called out at the time along with the State Police. Black Lick fire officials say that the pickup truck crashed and brought two utility poles down and left some Verizon wires on the street. A portion of Route 217 was shut down, and will remain closed until the late morning hours. PennDOT crews are now on the scene. No injuries or entrapment were reported.
Armagh fire department was also called out at 12:10 yesterday afternoon for what was termed as a physical rescue on Route 403 south in East Wheatfield Township. And Indiana Fire Association members were dispatched to Route 286 in White Township for a fuel spill at 1:02 PM
