The Penguins are on the road tonight against the New York Rangers. It’s the continuation of a tough week, their third game in four days, and it kicks off a stretch in which the Pens will play eight of their next nine games against teams currently in playoff position, including three against the Rangers.
The Pens are in second place in the Metro Division with 88 points, three behind the Carolina Hurricanes and three in front of the Rangers.
Coach Mike Sullivan says the Penguins know how important tonight’s game is.
Tonight will be the third game as a Penguin for Rickard Rakell, who has not had a chance to settle in yet after being acquired from Anaheim on Monday. Sullivan says he’s experimenting with slotting Rakell on his lines. He played on the Sidney Crosby line for a few shifts on Wednesday at Buffalo.
Faceoff tonight is at 7 o’clock. The pregame airs on 92.5 FM U92 and the U92 Sportschannel at 6.
