The Penguins put together a big second period and swept away Columbus last night.
Here’s Paul Steigerwald.
Coach Mike Sullivan says Jake Guentzel finds “the quiet places” on the ice.
Sullivan says the acquisition of winger Rickard Rakell by the Pens on Monday put a charge into the Penguins locker room.
Jake Guentzel says reaching the thirty-goal plateau for the first time felt great.
After flying a red-eye into Pittsburgh yesterday morning, Rakell was eased into the Penguins lineup, skating on the third line and taking 17 shifts.
Radim Zohorna welcomed Rakell to the Penguins by switching numbers so Rakell could have his longtime jersey number 67. Zohorna wore # 63.
The Pens are back on the ice tonight at Buffalo. Faceoff is at 7:30. The airtime is 6:30 on 92.5 FM U92 and the U92 Sportschannel.
