The Pirates’ Mitch Keller was walking normally yesterday, a day after taking a 104 mile-per-hour line drive off his thigh in his first Spring Training outing of the year against Detroit. Keller said he had no difficulties and played catch to test the leg afterward. He said the liner off the bat of the Tigers’ Daz Cameron came when he left a new pitch he’s been trying, a slider-curve, up in the strike zone.
On the field yesterday, the Pirates lost in their first away game of the spring.

A big signing in baseball yesterday: the Red Sox agreed to terms with former Rockies shortstop Trevor Story on a six-year deal worth $140 million. Story will move to second base with the Bosox.
