The Pittsburgh Pirates got their spring training schedule off on the right foot with a victory over the New York Yankees 4-3.
Cole Tucker was the standout for the Bucs, hitting a home run and a triple and making a sliding basket catch in shallow left field. Greg Allen also hit a homer in the game. Nick Gonzales hit an RBI single as well.
Starting pitcher Wil Crowe went two innings and gave up two runs on two hits and two walks. He had one strikeout in his start. Notching the win was reliever Jerad Eickoff, who lasted three innings and allowed only one hit and one walk, along with two strikeouts.
The Pirates are back in action today hosting the Detroit Tigers.
