Armstrong County Memorial Hospital nurses are back at work after a four-day strike.
The strike started on Sunday as nurses walked off the job from 7 AM to 7 PM each day during the strike. Contract negotiations between the hospital and the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals have been going on since last July. The union claims that nurses are quitting after suffering from burn-out due to staffing shortages and being “underappreciated and undervalued”. The union also accused the hospital for not investing in effective nurse receptions.
ACMH said in a statement of their own that the union made some incorrect statements about the people and the hospital, saying the union did not propose any changes to the staffing guidelines, and that they have been able to staff the hospital sometimes in excess of labor agreements.
No word yet when talks will resume.
