Road conditions were discussed during the Blairsville Borough Council Meeting on Tuesday night.
As part of the unfinished business portion of the agenda, the board discussed a possible ordinance that would hold accountable any utility companies that have to do work that would tear up portions of the borough’s roads. Ordinance 704 would require a stipulation that after the project is complete, the utility company would work to restore the road to as good a condition as it was before work started. This is expected to solve some of the uneven road issues in the borough that have arisen from patches being put in the road after the construction efforts are complete. The ordinance is still being worked on, but is expected to be approved soon.
In other business, Council was updated on the status of some grant applications being filed by borough Police Chief Lou Sacco. He is applying for grants from the US Department of Agriculture for police vehicles, and to the state to replace the outdated radios and install data mobiles that will link up with the 911 CAD system. Sacco said both grant applications are a work in progress.
