Gas prices across the United States and Pennsylvania are starting to go down, but only slightly.
Triple A reports that the national average for a gallon of gas as of this morning is $4.31 a gallon, down a penny from yesterday, but still up fourteen cents from last week at this time. This can be attributed to the price of crude oil falling from $123 a barrel shortly after the Russian invasion of Ukraine to below $110 a barrel. While it is a drop, it will not eradicate all of the extreme increases at the pump. The war in Ukraine is still very much a factor in the gas prices.
Pennsylvania’s average also saw a similar dip over the last 24 hours with the Pennsylvania average now at $4.41 a gallon. It is still ten cents higher than last week at this time.
Indiana County’s average is $4.40 a gallon. Comparing Indiana County’s average to other counties in our region, Armstrong County’s average is once again the lowest at $4.31. Westmoreland County’s average this morning is $4.32 a gallon. Jefferson County ties with Indiana at $4.40. Cambria County’s average is $4.41 a gallon, and Clearfield’s average is the highest in the region with $4.42 a gallon.
The lowest county-wide average in the state is $4.30 a gallon, in both Greene and Fayette Counties. Pike County has the highest average at $4.53 a gallon.
Gas prices in Indiana, Homer City, Blairsville and Clymer are at $4.39 a gallon this morning, according to gasbuddy.com
