The mandatory reporting date for Pirates spring training is today, when camp officially opens. The Bucs’ first exhibition game is Friday against the Yankees in Bradenton. They will play an only 18-game spring training schedule before they start the season on April 7th in St. Louis.
Players began reporting to camp on Friday after a new collective bargaining agreement was ratified.
Bryan Reynolds is in Bradenton despite efforts from a reported seven teams to try to pry him loose from the Bucs. Craig Mish of the website Sportsgrid.com reports the Yankees, Astros, Angels, Braves, Brewers, Mariners, Phillies, Guardians and White Sox all have interest in Reynolds, and the Padres may be the most active pursuer of the outfielder.
