The Penguins take the ice tonight at PPG Paints Arena against the Vegas Golden Knights. Injured defenseman Mike Mathseon was a full participant in practice yesterday and coach Mike Sullivan said he is “day-to-day” to return to the lineup. You’ll hear the Pens and Knights on 92.5 FM U92 tonight, facing off at 7, with the pregame airing at 6.
Sullivan has spent much of his time since Tuesday’s loss to Florida pondering lineup changes. The Sidney Crosby line has been the only truly productive line for several weeks, and while he hates to break it up to try to get scoring on the second, third, and fourth line, it’s something he’s considered.
Sullivan says he doesn’t take moving players around in the lineup lightly, but finding the right line combinations and explaining to the players the reasoning behind his moves is part of the job.
The Penguins have signed college free agent forward Corey Andonovski to a two-year entry-level contract. He was Princeton’s leading scorer this season with ten goals and 12 assists in 31 games. The contract takes effect with the start of next season, but Andonovski will play the rest of this season for Wilkes Barre-Scranton on an amateur tryout contract.
