On Wednesday, the Indiana County Commissioners approved a resolution for peace and support for Ukraine.
As the war between Russia and Ukraine enters its second week, the Indiana County Commissioners officially condemned the Russian government and encouraged the people of Indiana County to support Ukrainians in Indiana County and those who are fighting overseas. Father Ihor Protsak from St. John The Baptist Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Dixonville said that the simplest thing that people can do to support them is to just pray for them.
In other business, the commissioners approved two grant applications totaling $36,587. One application will be for the PCOMP Safety improvement program, and the other will be for the PCORP loss prevention grant. The money will be used to upgrade the fire alarm systems in the courthouse.
The commissioners also passed proclamations for Carol Schurman on her work with the Indiana County 4-H and to proclaim March 15th as Equal Pay Day in Indiana County.
