The sentencing yesterday of 25-year-old Nicholas Leone of Plumville brings to a close three arson cases which were part of a series of arson in northern Indiana County in December of 2018 and January of 2019.
Leone and Dylan Dalessio, who are both former firefighters, were arrested in October of 2019 for fires set at a barn along Route 954 in Washington Township; an abandoned garage, also in Washington Township; and an Amish furniture store in West Mahoning Township.
In December of last year, Leone pleaded guilty to the reduced charges for which he was sentenced yesterday. He was ordered serve three months to two years less a day – and paroled – plus five years of probation for felony arson; and concurrent sentences of five years probation for two counts of felony risking.
In December, Dalessio was sentenced to 16 months to 15 years each for three counts of conspiracy to commit arson, plus 2 to 15 years each for five counts of arson, three months to five years for fraud and two-and-a-half to five years for witness intimidation. All of his sentences were concurrent and like Leone, he was given credit for time already served.
