The IUP men’s basketball team won the PSAC Championship on Sunday and will host the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional this weekend. That means many businesses will see a boom in business from people coming from out of town to attend the games.
The boom was also seen this past weekend as IUP hosted the PSAC Championship, as some hotels close to the KCAC were either at or near capacity with the teams and their fans.
Indiana County Chamber of Commerce President Mark Hilliard said that these tournaments will have a significant impact on business in the county.
Laura Herrington of the Indiana County Tourist Bureau is looking forward to the hotels being busy once again this weekend.
She added that the tournaments have the potential to increase county revenues by thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars.
The D-2 Atlantic Regional starts Saturday. Times have yet to be announced for the four games.
