Another sharp jump in the price of gasoline was reported yesterday.
Pennsylvania’s average gas price is now at $4 a gallon this morning, according to Triple A, while the national average is now $3.87 a gallon. The spike in the price of gas is being attributed to the rising cost of crude oil, which has gone to $110 a barrel or more at times, and crude oil prices are expected to continue to increase as the conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues. The International Energy Agency is coordinating the release of 60 million barrels of crude oil from its 31 member nations, with many of those coming from the United States’ strategic oil reserve.
Indiana County’s average this morning according to Triple A is $3.94 a gallon. Armstrong county remains the lowest gas price average in the state at $3.90 a gallon, Pike, Bucks, Chester and Montgomery counties are tied with the highest average at $4.08 a gallon.
In Indiana, Homer City, Blairsville, and Clymer, gas prices are hovering at the $3.99 mark, with the exception of VP racing fuels, who are still two cents cheaper at $3.97 a gallon.
