Pitt lost its third straight game last night and seventh in their last ten, as Duke blasted the Panthers 86-56 in Mike Krzyzewski’s last game coaching the Blue Devils in Pittsburgh. Duke’s win clinched the regular season ACC championship for the Blue Devils, their first since 2010.
Pitt coach Jeff Capel, who played for and coached with Coach K at Duke, presented his long-time friend with a sculpture of a steel fist with each finger representing Krzyzewski’s five core principles – communication, trust, collective responsibility, care, and pride.
Tickets for Coach K’s regular season finale on Saturday, his last home game at Duke’s Cameron Indoor Stadium, could set an all-time record for a single sporting event. The lowest ticket price is $3,690, with the average price at $5,392 for the game against Duke’s biggest rival, North Carolina.
