After taking Monday off, the Penguins were back to work yesterday, and injured forward Teddy Blueger was a full-contact participant. He’s been out since January with a broken jaw. He had surgery on the jaw on January 24th after getting injured the night before.
Coach Mike Sullivan says the Pens need to continue to improve after two big wins on the road over the weekend, against the Rangers and Blue Jackets.
After defenseman Marcus Petterson talked about self-assessing what he considered to be some poor play recently and then improving over the weekend, Sullivan said players are aware when they’re not playing well, and they can become their own worst critics.
The Penguins play at Tampa Bay tomorrow night, the first of back-to-back games on consecutive nights against two of the league’s top teams, the Lightning and the Carolina Hurricanes. Their next seven are against teams currently in playoff slots.
Yesterday, the Penguins announced that that have signed two prospects, forward Jordan Frasca and goaltender Taylor Gauthier. Frasca has scored 32 goals this season with Kingston of the Ontario Hockey League. Gauthier is a combined 20-6-0 with a 2.17 goals against average and a .932 save percentage for Prince George and Portland in the Western Hockey league.
The contracts start next season.
