Gas prices continue to go up across the country and in Pennsylvania as the crisis in Ukraine continues.
According to Triple A, the national average gas price this morning is $3.61 a gallon, which is an eight-cent increase over the last week and a 24-cent increase over the last month.
The Russia invasion of Ukraine has played a part in why gas prices continue to increase. Crude oil prices once again spiked to over $100 a barrel before going back down to the mid-$90 level. AAA Spokesperson Andrew Gross said that the attacks in Ukraine and the responding sanctions against Russia have caused a lot of uncertainty in the market, which is fueling the price increase.
Pennsylvania’s average as of this morning is $3.75, which is a two-cent increase over the last week and a 21-cent increase over the last month. Indiana County’s average is once again one of the lower averages in the state at $3.70 a gallon. Armstrong remains the lowest in the region and the state with $3.64 a gallon. Westmoreland County reported a $3.66 per gallon average. Both Cambria and Jefferson Counties had $3.74 a gallon, and Clearfield’s average is highest in the region at $3.75 a gallon.
Gas prices throughout Indiana County are at $3.69 a gallon, with the exception of VP racing Fuels in Blairsville, who report at $3.67 per gallon price, according to GasBuddy.com
