The Penguins have signed defenseman Chad Ruhwedel to a two-year contract extension that will carry him through the 2023-24 season.
Ruhwedel joined the Penguins after the 2016 season and was a member of their Stanley Cup-winning team in 2017. This season, he is getting his first regular action as a member of the team’s blue-line corps, working the third defensive pairing with Mike Matheson.
The Pens take on the Carolina Hurricanes this afternoon in a matchup of the two teams at the top of the Metro Division standings, both with 70 points.
