One of the men involved in a 2020 Valentine’s Day shooting and robbery near IUP Campus was sentenced yesterday in Indiana County Court.
On Friday, Nafis Harper was ordered to spend three to six years in a state correctional institution for his guilty plea to a single charge of robbery-inflict serious bodily injury connected with the incident at two student rental houses in the 800 block of Wayne Avenue. He had been facing several charges including several counts of robbery and robbery-inflicting serious bodily injury, theft, receiving stolen property and aggravated assault. Harper, along with Daron Reel, Mamadi Saccoh and Samuel Wilson were charged in connection with the incident. Saccoh allegedly was the driver while the other three went into one house, demanding drugs. When there were none, police say they realized they went to the wrong house by accident and moved next door. During the second robbery, Reel shot one of the occupants. The victim survived his injuries.
Reel was already sentence to three to ten years for the incident. Wilson is due for a sentencing hearing on February 28th on a guilty plea to robbery. Saccoh is due in court on March 2nd for a plea hearing.
