UPDATE: Maple Street and Wandin Road/Pine Flats Road reopened as of 11:05 AM. The other roads remain closed.
WHAT WE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED
PennDOT has announced parts of four Indiana County roads have closed due to flooding from the rainfall and snow melt in our area.
The affected roads are:
- State Route 580 (Maple Street) between the intersections of Penn Street and Clarion Road in Cherry Tree Borough
- Siebring Road (State Route 1022) between the intersections of Purchase Line Road and Rice Road in Green Township and East Run Road in Grant Township.
- Wandin Road/Pine Flats Road (State Route 1014) between the intersections with Starford Road and Barr Road in Green Township
- West Creek Road (State Route 4020) between the intersections of Franklin Road in East Mahoning Township and Mottarn Road in North Mahoning Township.
PennDOT officials say that the closures are expected to end at 1:30 PM today, but that could change if conditions change. PennDOT officials also remind motorists to not drive through flooded roadways, as it takes just two feet of fast moving water to float a car.
If you see a flooded roadway ahead, PennDOT says the best advice is “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”
