The Penguins take a four-game winning streak into Toronto tonight against the talented Maple Leafs.
Coach Mike Sullivan tinkered with his second and third lines yesterday, looking for the right combination of players to get more scoring. Evgeni Malkin skated with Danton Heinen and Jeff Carter on his wings on the second line. Evan Rodrigues centered Kasperi Kapanen and Brock McGinn on the third line. Sullivan says he has flexibility, with players who can easily move from center to wing.
The Penguins’ fourth line has jelled with Brian Boyle centering Zach Aston-Reese and Dominik Simon . Sullivan says that even though the guys on the fourth line have different skill sets offensively, they work well together because they still have a lot in common.
The day after he scored his 500th career goal, Sidney Crosby was back at work as usual at the Pens’ practice yesterday. Sullivan says Crosby is a true leader.
Tonight’s game in Toronto faces off just after 7 o’clock. The airtime on 92.5 FM U92 and the U92 Sportschannel is at 6.
